The detailed conference programme with the schedule of plenary and parallel sessions is now available at the conference homepage.

Keynote Speakers

Her Excellency Mary McAleese, President of Ireland will address the delegates in the morning of 20 June.

On the first day of the Conference, plenary speakers, John Daniel and Dennis Pamlin will help to draw up the conceptual frame of the conference with strategic keynotes. On Tuesday, 21th Paul Kim will introduce "Mobile Innovations and Causing Evolution in the Education Ecosystem", Clare Dillon will speak about "Technology Trends Driving Learning Opportunities", Graham Attwell's theme will be "Context, Authenticity and Learning in the Real World". On Wednesday, Kevin O. Rourke will highlight "eLearning and Sustainability: Quality over Quantity?" and Liv Arnesen presents "In Headwind and Tailwind - Teaching from Arctic and Antarctica". Alfredo Soeiro will speak about "Valuing Learning for All, Everywhere and in Any Mode: A Dream?" and build up the link with the 2012 EDEN Conference in Porto, about "Open Learning Generations".

Besides the parallel sessions with paper presentations there will be over 50 posters with quick insights in a variety of practice cases. Demonstrations will introduce practical innovations, products, technologies focusing on user experience.

Recognising Excellence

The tradition of awarding the EDEN Conference Best Research Paper will be continued, in collaboration with the Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Open and Distance Learning.

The Anniversary Conference goes Web 2.0

Only some weeks to go, and the EDEN Annual Conference 2011 opens the gates. This year the Programme is high profile and delegates are more involved in creating the EDEN experience than ever before. The Association launched its own Page and set up a Conference Group on Facebook  and LinkedIn as well as its Twitter account with the alias @edendublin. All conference news are shared plus daily paper recommendations from the official programme. Tips on what to do in Dublin by local professionals when the conference hours are over as well are shared. Follow @edendublin on Twitter and get featured in the daily News via paper.li on Twitter during the 20th Anniversary Conference with contributions of conference participants. Include the hashtag #edendublin to your posts to be featured.

Post conference seminars

Post Conference Workshops will be held in the afternoon of 22 June. One of them will present experiences and best practices from three European projects in the field of Open Educational Resources, and during the other one the participants will be acquainted with the cross validation of Joint Links-Up & te@ch.us projects outcomes on the influence of Web 2.0 and Learning 2.0 on social inclusion and the transformation of educational systems.

Registration

The EDEN Secretariat is taking care of the registration for the 2011 Annual Conference. Please, use the Online Registration Form.

The registration fee includes all conference facilities, the Conference Proceedings on CD-ROM, the Book of Abstracts, the Welcome Reception on 19 June, lunches and coffees on 20-22 June.

Social Events

The Conference Dinner on 21 June, with entertainment, will be organised in the famous Guinness Storehouse, designed in the shape of a giant pint of Guiness. The evening includes a guided visit at the end of which, on reaching the head of the pint, the Gravity Bar, you can enjoy the unique spectacular view across Dublin.

The Welcome Reception will take place at the conference venue in the conservatory of the O'Reilly Hall. The pleasant surroundings and excellent convention facilities of University College Dublin will ensure inspiration for intellectual exploration dialogue learning-partnerships and collaboration.

The 2011 EDEN Fellow Awards in recognition of the Members' contribution to the development of open, distance and e-learning in Europe will be presented during the Reception.
