MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF THE PROBLEM OF SECONDARY DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM PLANNING

Abstract: This paper presents a general mathematical model for the problem of planning of secondary distribution systems, which takes into account the location and sizing of secondary feeders and distribution transformers, the cost of repowering existing feeders and transformers, the cost of swing phase, the system operating costs and fixed costs incurred in the relocation of distribution transformers. The restrictions include nodal power balance, the maximum permitted in the capacity of the feeders and transformers, the maximum permissible voltage drop in system nodes and the maximum amount of investment available. The contribution of this paper lies in formulating a mixed integer nonlinear model involving each of the aspects considered by different authors in the literature on this subject, which allows it to be solved using optimization methods and adapted to different circumstances according to the criteria of the engineer in charge of planning the distribution system.

Resumen: En este trabajo se presenta un modelo matemático general para el problema del planeamiento de sistemas secundarios de distribución, el cual tiene en cuenta la ubicación y dimensionamiento de alimentadores secundarios y transformadores de distribución, el costo de repotenciación de alimentadores y transformadores existentes, el costo del balanceo de fases, los costos operativos del sistema y los costos fijos ocasionados por la reubicación de transformadores de distribución. Las restricciones planteadas incluyen el balance de potencia nodal, los límites máximos permitidos en la capacidad de los alimentadores y transformadores, las máximas caídas de tensión admisibles en los nodos del sistema y la partida máxima de inversión disponible. El aporte de este trabajo radica en la formulación de un modelo no lineal entero mixto que involucra cada uno de los aspectos considerados por diferentes autores dentro de la literatura especializada en esta temática, el cual permita ser resuelto usando métodos de optimización y adaptado a diferentes circunstancias de acuerdo a los criterios del ingeniero encargado de la planeación de un sistema de distribución.
