ANALYSIS OF THE ADJUSTABLE-SPEED AC DRIVERS UNDER VOLTAGE SAGS

ANALISIS DE LOS DISPOSITIVOS DE CONTROL DE VELOCIDAD DE CA FRENTE A HUECOS DE TENSION

Abstract: This paper analyzes the behavior of the adjustable-speed AC Drivers (ASD’s) under voltage sags. To observe the behavior of the ASD, some simulation will be applied using the professional software MATLAB® and the PowerSystem Toolbox, it will be applied to the power system prototype. This prototype contains the main elements that make up a real power system. Through this simulation, different kinds of voltage sags are generated in medium voltage level, which are apply to the ASD with a low voltage electrical network. Besides, the most relevant variables (dc voltage, voltages and currents output for the three phases) for three different ASD with or without voltage sags will be obtained. The changes presented in those variables are correlated with the three-phase voltage sag severity to see the impact of the voltage sags over this kind of drivers.

Resumen: En este trabajo se estudia el comportamiento del dispositivo de control de velocidad de CA (ASD) frente a huecos de tensión. Para ello se realiza la simulación (utilizando la Toolbox PowerSystem de MATLAB®) de un sistema de potencia prototipo; el cual reúne los principales elementos que componen un sistema de potencia real. Con esta simulación se generan diferentes tipos de huecos de tensión en media tensión (MT), los cuales se transportan hasta el ASD, en baja tensión (BT), por medio de la red eléctrica. Además, se obtiene el comportamiento de las variables más relevantes del ASD (tensión de la etapa de continua, tensión y corrientes de salida para las tres fases) para tres ASD diferentes, sin y en presencia de huecos de tensión. Los cambios presentados en dichas variables se correlacionan con la severidad de los huecos de tensión trifásicos para ver el impacto de estos últimos sobre este tipo de dispositivos.
