LOW COST ELECTRONIC NOSE SYSTEM FOR DETECTING DIFFERENT CHEMICALS POLLUTANTS

Abstract: This paper describes a electronic olfaction system (B-NOSE) of low-cost, developed through an array of 16 metal oxide gas sensors (TGS) and signal processing techniques such as PCA, MLP and PNN for classification of different chemicals compounds. We used a total of three volatile organic compounds (VCO) of type aromatic (Benzene, Toluene and Xylene) to check the sensitivity and selectivity at 500, 1000 and 1500 ppm (parts per million).

Resumen: En este trabajo se describe un sistema de olfato electrónico (B_NOSE) de bajo costo, desarrollado a través de una matriz de 16 sensores de gases de óxidos metálicos (TGS) y técnicas de procesamiento de señales como: PCA, MLP, y PNN, para la clasificación de diferentes compuestos químicos. Se utilizaron en total tres compuestos orgánicos volátiles (COV), de tipo hidrocarburos aromáticos (Benceno, Tolueno y Xileno) con el fin de comprobar la sensibilidad y selectividad a 500, 1000 y 1500 ppm (partes por millón).
