ADVANCES IN THE IDENTITICATION OF THE COMPONENTS OF ALUVION (PLATINIUM AND GOLD) BY DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING

Abstract: This paper presents the progress in the technological developing for the
identification of components from the alluvial concentrate of platinium, in order to
implementation a system which will be used in its purchase and separation process.
Also, it describe a modular device controlled lighting conditions to take ideal images of
concentrate samples, as well, the selection of a suitable background. Illustrates the
algorithm image processing to identify the components of concentrate based on
information generated by the component H (Tone) of the HSV color space. Further it
presents a statistical analysis to select the thresholds classification as well the filters used..

Resumen: En este artículo se presenta los avances en el desarrollo tecnologico para la
identificacion de los componentes del aluvion concentrado con el fin de implementar un
sistema que sera utilizado en el proceso de compra y separacion del mismo. Se describe
un dispositivo modular que controla las condiciones lumínicas con el fin de tomar
imágenes idóneas de las muestras de los componentes del concentrado del aluvión, al
igual que la selección de un fondo adecuado. Ilustra el algoritmo de procesamiento de
imágenes que identifica los minerales partiendo de la información dada por la
componente H (tonalidad) del espacio de colores HSV. Presenta un análisis estadístico
para seleccionar los umbrales de clasificación al igual que los filtros empleados. Por
último se presentan un análisis de los resultados obtenidos.
