INTELLIGENT SUPERVISORY CONTROL OF CONTINUOUS PROCESSES EXPOSED TO FAILURES

Abstract: To carry out the Supervisory Control in continuous process systems exposed to failures the requirement is to provide an intelligent oversight mechanism because of the need to identify the variety of failures, their source and anticipate the consequences of their occurrence. In this paper we propose to extend the multi-resolutional model of Sanz (1990) and bring it to a supervisory scheme with events’ detection based on fuzzy logic and agents’ technology. This paper also presents a mechanism to validate the implementation using simulation of discrete events.

Resumen: Para llevar a cabo el Control Supervisorio en sistemas de proceso continuo expuestos a fallas se requiere proporcionar inteligencia al mecanismo de supervisión, debido a la necesidad de identificar la diversidad de fallas, la fuente de las mismas, y anticipar las consecuencias que se derivan de su ocurrencia. En este artículo proponemos extender el modelo multi-resolucional de Sanz (1990) y llevarlo a un esquema de supervisión con detección de eventos basado en lógica difusa y tecnología de agentes. En
este trabajo se presenta también un mecanismo para validar la implementación utilizando simulación a eventos discretos.
